The Acoustical Society of Italy (Associazione Italiana di Acustica, AIA) was founded in 1972 as a not-for-profit, apolitical, scientific association without any commercial or industrial objective. Its purpose is to promote and encourage studies on acoustics and its related problems in the scientific, technical, normative, industrial, social, professional, and educational fields. AIA’s activities aim to favour the exchange of technical and scientific information and cooperation among its members, encourage and promote contacts with other national and international associations, and disseminate research results and news regarding the different topics of acoustics.

The Acoustical Society of Croatia (Hrvatsko akustičko društvo, HAD) was founded in 1998. Its main activities are: organisation and execution of interlaboratory comparisons in noise and sound insulation measurements; participation in the development of technical regulations on acoustics in buildings; raising awareness of noise and the importance of acoustic comfort in outdoor and indoor spaces; organisation of regional conferences on acoustics.
HAD is co-founder of the regional Alps-Adria Acoustics Association (AAAA).

International Institute of Noise Control Engineering
The International Institute of Noise Control Engineering (I-INCE) was founded in 1974. It is a worldwide consortium of organisations concerned with noise control, acoustics and vibration. The primary focus of the Institute is on unwanted sounds and on vibrations producing such sounds when transduced.
I-INCE is the only organisation that has a worldwide coverage of the issue of noise control technology. It has the ability to identify global noise control issues, discuss them on a global scale and communicate its findings with nearly all nations in the world. In the present connected world this might be a unique position that brings opportunities but also responsibilities.
